World Beach Project

The World Beach Project, devised by artist Sue Lawty in association with the V&A, is a global art project open to anybody, anywhere, of any age.  It builds on the experience many of us have making patterns on beaches and shorelines with stones / pebbles.  The project happens in two stages, in two locations: first, at a beach where you choose the stones and make your pattern, recording the work-in-progress with some photographs along the way.  Then at a computer, when you upload the photographs to the website to complete the project.  For more information and how to get involved visit www.vam.ac.uk/collections/textiles/lawty/world_beach/

VAN Briefing: Putting your arts or crafts group on the map - ten ways to get noticed

Spending time raising your art or craft group's public profile is very worthwhile.  Being well known in your own area will enable new members, new audiences, potential creative partners, sponsors, funders, venue managers and other supporters to find you easily.  Having a strong public profile beyond your own area will also enable groups from other areas to contact you with a view to developing activities together.

This briefing lists 10 cost effective ways  to help you increase the impact and reach of your group's public profile.  It will be especially useful to small volunteer-led arts and crafts groups that don't have paid staff, official premises or even a marketing budget.  However the principles will apply to arts organisations of all sizes.
