The Conservation Foundation and O2 have teamed up for this new grant scheme. Awards of up to £1000 are available to local groups and individuals for the hire of tools or equipment, and to purchase plants, paint, signs, materials etc.


The awards are open to community and voluntary organisations such as heritage groups, youth clubs, parish and village councils, environmental and conservation groups.


All types of environmental projects are welcome to apply, from anywhere in the country. It's your Community has already supported 807 projects so far!

Application forms are available from the website, O2 shops and from the Conservation Foundation. Successful applicants may also be eligible for a further ‘Well Done Award’ if you send in ‘before and after’ photos to show what their project has achieved.

Community Tree Planting Fund (UK)

The Woodland Trust has announced the launch of its Community Tree Planting Fund for this winter. Through the fund, the Trust is offering grants for community tree planting initiatives. Community groups, associations and not for profit organisations such as community action groups, local residents groups, environmental action group, scouts, brownies, etc. can apply for grants of £100 for tree planting projects organised by the local community. The grant covers costs directly related to the tree planting project. This can include purchase of native trees, the purchase of other tree planting materials and publicity costs. Applications will be judged monthly and decisions made soon after. Successful applicants will receive a grant cheque one month before the date of your event. The grants are offered on a first come first serve basis.

www.communitykit.co.uk: this website allow UK registered charities, non-profit making organisations and volunteer led groups or organisations to build and maintain their own websites for free.

Community Sustainable Energy Grant (UK)

The Big Lottery Fund has announced the launch of a new Fund to help local communities reduce their carbon footprint. The Community Sustainable Energy grant scheme, which will be managed by renewable energy specialists Building Research Establishment (BRE), will provide financial support to grass roots organisations such as schools, charities and community groups to install small-scale energy efficient technology such as wind turbines or solar panels on sites including village halls, visitor centres or schools. Funding will also be available to improve building insulation as well as for community organisations to research new technologies that will benefit them most.

 Awards for All

Grants of £300-£10,000 are given to fund a specific project. Applications are accepted from not for profit groups, parish and town councils, schools and health bodies. To apply the group must have a bank account that requires at least 2 people's signatures for cheques or withdrawals. The grant must be used within a year.

Community Paths Project

Small grants are available for Public Rights of Way improvement. This could be anything that affects the surface or features of a footpath, bridleway or byway. Applicants are encouraged to involve volunteers as money can only be given to projects which can be carried out by volunteers.

Charles Hayward Foundation

This trust focuses on the South East and one priority is Art, Preservation and the Environment. This includes the purchase of land or reclamation of recently purchased land to be used for nature reserves or inner-city gardens, parks and artefacts. industrial heritage and the conservation of gardens.

*NEW* Norfolk Community Foundation

Community organisations are invited to apply for funding to help set up projects. Norfolk Community Foundation, an independent grant maker, has more than £50,000 to distribute to charities, organisations, and voluntary groups. Grants will be awarded from several funds, including the foundation's flagship fund, the Local Giving |Fund, which makes available funding of up to £5,000 and will consider two or three year funding for appropriate projects.

*NEW* The Broads Authority Sustainable Development Fund

This fund exists to give the Broads a bright future and is open to all. The fund has £180,000 a year to distribute and you can apply for as little or as much as you need. The largest single grant awarded to date is £50,000 and the smallest is £150. The average is around £8,000. The simple 4 page application form is easy to access and understand.
